6.8 magnitude Earthquake hits Mayanmar, Tremors felt in Indian Cities too

A moderate earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale was felt 25km W of Chauk, Myanmar on Wednesday.

According to Indian Meteorological Department, the tremor took place at around 4 pm, which was however reported without any casualties.

Burma bordering northeast Indian States also felt the quake, where the residents of  Guwahati, Shillong, Kolkatta cities came out of their residences.

On Tuesday too tremors of 5.5 magnitude was reported by US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was determined 57 km away from Khampat in Myanmar, which hit in Burmese local time at 7.41 am.
