Allahabad High Court dismissed petition on giving martyr status to Chandan

The petition filed in the Allahabad High Court demanding to give Chandan Gupta a status of martyr, who died in Kasganj communal violence, was dismissed on Thursday.

Chandan’s family was constantly demanding him to give him martyr status after which a petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court. With this, the petitioner also demanded NIA investigation into the violence, which has also been dismissed by the court.

Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Abdul Moin, while hearing the petitions of Dilip Kumar Shrivastav and others, have rejected the appeal of NIA to investigate the matter.

Along with this, a compensation of Rs 50 lakh was also demanded the family of the deceased. The petitioner alleged that in granting compensation discrimination has been done. The state government’s lawyer said that the compensation amount of Rs.20 lakh has been given to Chandan’s family and as the investigation is going on, NIA investigation is not needed.
