Now, Nirbhaya fund for installing CCTV cameras at 983 railway stations

In a move to ensure safety of the women, railways has proposed to install CCTV cameras at 983 railway stations under Nirbhaya Fund. These also include the category ‘C’ stations.

In addition, the current 344 stations, which already have CCTVs, have been instructed to extend the use of CCTVs to monitor cleanliness activities performed by cleaning staff.

There was a need for installing CCTVs because of alarming increase in instances of assault against women. This installation CCTVs will also help the RPF to identify the culprits in case of other crimes.

The category ‘C’ stations which will be having CCTVs installed, are Dombivli, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Reay Road, Budge Budge,  Bagula, Krishnanagar City, Barrackpore, Sonarpur, Ranaghat, Tarakeswar, Srirampur, Canning, Sodpur, Baruipur Jn., Barasat Jn and more.
