Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has again given a controversial statement in the election rally at Allahabad’s Phulpur. Referring to the Holi and Juma (Friday) prayers, the Yogi said that the time of namaz was changed because of the government.
Yogi said that this time, before this Holi festival, he asked about preparations for Holi through video conferencing. The district administration told him that Holi and Juma are falling on the same day. After it was told Holi would be allowed till at 11 am only.
Expressing anger on limiting the time to play colors, Yogi said that Holi is played once in a year, while Juma falls 52 times a year. Can time of Juma prayers be extended for one day?
He said that as Holi is celebrated once in a year and all should respect it. In the meeting with the officials, I said that Holi comes once in a year, Juma comes 52 times in a year, and then time for Juma prayers should be extended anyhow.
Yogi said that on the request of the government, the Namazis (Muslims) extended the prayer so that the people playing Holi would not face problems. Thanks to Namazis for this.
