Yogeshwar Dutt will most likely to get the gold medal after the decision by World Anti- Doping Agency (WADA) to re-test samples from the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London games, Toghrul Asgarov the gold winner of the 60kg wrestling event failed a dope test.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, a source said that the World Anti-Doping Agency is yet to officially announce that the 2012 Games’ gold medallist Toghrul Asgarov was tested positive for doping.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has decided to re- test the samples from Beijing and London Olympics using enhanced techniques to expose doping scandals. Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt’s samples taken during the London Olympics will also be tested before he is confirmed of the gold medal.
Yogeshwar would be the first Indian wrestler and second Indian to grab individual gold medal in the Olympic game after the shooter Abhinav Bindra.
Earlier this week, Dutt’s Broze was upgraded to silver after the deceased wrestler Besik Kudukhov’s sample was tested positive during the re test of samples conducted by WADA. He responded on the news by tweeting.
“Besik Kudukhov was a great wrestler. It is sad that the dope test result has come after his death. I respect him as a fellow wrestler,” he tweeted in Hindi.
