India women hockey team lost their second Pool B match 0-3 against Great Britain at ongoing Rio Olympic on Monday. India women, in their historic Olympic appearance in 36 years, now have a draw and a loss to show for after two matches.
After holding the higher-ranked Great Britain 0-0 in the first quarter, India conceded two quick goals in the second quarter, which took the game away from them. First goal for Britain was scored by Giselle Ansley in the first penalty corner of the match in the 25th minute. Nicola White struck a goal just three minutes later, via a field goal to give Great Britain a two-goal lead.
While in the third quarter India again conceded the third goal, which came from the stick of Alexandra Danson, in the 33rd minute.
India failed to convert two back-to-back penalty corners in the fourth quarter. After the loss, India dropped down to fourth with one point.
India will now face Australia in their next match on Wednesday.
