JNUSU calls for University Strike; demands to bring back Najeeb safely

On the mysteriously missing JNU student and AISA activist Najeeb Ahmad since October 14, the JNU Student Union (JNUSU) has called for University strike on Tuesday. The union has demanded to bring back Najeeb safely and take action on the ABVP members who attacked him two days back.

The matter has now being seen as communal hatred as in the statements recorded by the University administration. It has been mentioned by JNUSU President Mohit Pandey that three students who came for canvassing for Hostel election in Mahi Mandvi hostel, thrashed Najeeb and also made communal comments on him. Even in the presence of senior warden, the ABVP members threatened Najeeb.

Even some of the JNU students complained to the university administration that on the tables in Common room ‘Muslims are terrorists’ was written. They said it was the attack on JNU’s secular culture.

However, ABVP Leader Saurabh Sharma has come out in open to defend JNU student Vikrant who has been named in beating Najeeb before he went missing. Saurabh claimed that first Najeeb slapped Vikrant on petty issue following which brawl took place. The ABVP claimed that AISA and JNUSU leaders are trying to communalise the issue.

Now, JNUSU has called for University strike and released a post  which says “Punish the perpetrators of Mob violence and Communal Hate Mongering”.
