For the first time, a city of Uttar Pradesh will sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese city for economic and trade cooperation.
Talking to whatthebeep on Sunday, Additional Municipal Commissioner PK Srivastava said, “As many as 6 Chinese officials from Wenzhou city would be coming to sign the MoU for economic, tourism, industry, cultural and education cooperation with Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Monday.”
The Chinese city of Wenzhou is known for its industries, which leads in exports of food, tea, wine, jute, timber, paper, Alunite (a non-metallic mineral used to make alum and fertilizer). There are 10 main industries each exceeding 1.5 billion dollars including electrical machinery, leather products, general equipment, power supply, plastic manufacturing, textile and garment, transport equipment, chemical products, metal products and metal processing.
With such a booming industry base, the Wenzhou officials are finding potential places to expand their business on the international front too. The officials found potential in the Uttar Pradesh’s capital and decided to sign a MoU for economic cooperation with the local municipal corporation.
Although, the MoU signing ceremony by the Chinese officials with the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) was scheduled in December, 2016 but due to some unavoidable reasons it was postponed. Now the process would would be completed at the LMC headquarters in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Udayraj Singh.
Those coming in the delegation from Wenzhou are Deputy Secretary General of Wenzhou Municipal Peoples’ govt. Yu Liqing, Deputy Director of Wenzhou Bureau of Commerce Ye Chaoyang, and others.
