MNS and Shiv Sena goes on war with artists from Pakistan

Amidst growing tension between India and Pakistan, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has issued an ultimatum to the artists form Pakistan living and working in the country to leave within 48 hours.

This comes after the attack on the Uri army camp that killed 18 army personnel and 19 others were severely injured on September 18. It has once again pointed fingers at our neighboring country Pakistan and its stand on countering the terrorist activities.  Amey Khopkar of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s affiliate Chitrapat Sena has issued the warning against Pakistani actors to leave the country. He said, “We give a 48 hour deadline to Pakistani Actors and artists to leave India or MNS will push them out, “We won’t let ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Raees’ release as it has Pakistani actors, says MNS as quoted by ANI.

Shailini Thackrey, wife of MNS leader Raj Thackrey told reporters in the press conference that actress like Mahira Khan and Fawad khan are hijacking the opportunities of Indian artists. It is to be noted that Shahrukh Khan and Mahira Khan Starrer “Raees’ is yet to be released.

Mumbai police however assured the artists that they need not worry as they will be given full protection.  Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order), Mumbai, Deven Bharti told PTI, “All foreign nationals who land in the country with valid documents issued by the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra need not worry.”

Further, Shiv Sena has also had to play its role and party MP Sanjay Raut reminded his party’s stand that there should be no ties or relations with Pakistan and actors and cricketers should not be allowed to work in the country.

“We are talking about banning them (Pakistanis) globally. Why we are continuing talks with them? Why are we indulging in diplomacy? As a nation, we should snap all ties with Pakistan immediately,” he said.

This is not the first time MNS and Sena has indulged in banning artists from Pakistan and there have been incidents in the past artists have received threats in Mumbai.
