Modi Government’s last budget: tempted the poor, the farmers but the middle class remain empty-handed

In the general budget of Modi government, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley took care of the poor, farmers and senior citizens, but the middle classes did not get as much as they expected.

Salaried professionals expected to get relief from income tax but Arun Jaitley broke their hopes. Though the standard tax deduction of Rs 40 thousand from the current taxable income has been given only a few people will get this benefit.

Along with it, the Modi government has claimed to bring the world’s largest health scheme in the budget. Arun Jaitley announced the National Health Protection Scheme in his budget. Jaitley said it will benefit at least 50 million people. Under this scheme, poor families will not have to spend their money on treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh every year. This money will be given by the government through this scheme. Presently the government has allocated ₹ 30 thousand crores for this scheme.

The Modi government has tried to woo angry farmers in this budget, the government has decided to buy crops at least one and a half times higher on the cost of production of the coming crops. Not only this, for the products like potatoes, tomatoes and onions, the government has also announced to run Operation Green.
The government will set up 42 mega food parks, as well as a provision of Rs 10 thousand crores for fish farming and animal husbandry.

In the field of education, the government has announced to set up 18 new IITs and NIITs, along with a target to train more than 13 lakh teachers has been kept.

On the other hand, the government has taken care of the politicians too. In the budget of 2018-19, a decision has been taken to increase the salary of the President, Vice President and the MPs.

Now the President’s salary will be ₹ 5 lakh and the Vice President will get a salary of 4 lakh per month. Not only this, the salary of MPs will also be hiked on every 5 years.
