Mumbai police reprimanded a news website and actor Ajaz Khan for running fake story

Often the media is accused of people baselessly. In a similar case, Bollywood actor Ajaz Khan was targetted in a story done by an English news website citing the old tweets made by the actor. Taking action against it the Mumbai Police expressed its anger and shared a link to that website in a tweet.

An English website on the same thing had a story. The headline of this story was “Bollywood actor and serial abuser were invited as chief guest for an event by Mumbai Police”. In this story, old records of Ajaz Khan and a program of Mumbai police were mentioned. A photo with Mumbai police was shared by Ajaz was also shown that was posted on February 11 in the story and the English website had said in its news that neither the Mumbai Police took any action against Ajaz Khan nor the tweeter took any action. The website also wrote about the news of inviting Ajaz Khan as Chief Guest by the Mumbai Police.

Expressing anger on this story, the Mumbai Police shared the link with the news and wrote on Twitter that, “Poor general knowledge alert! Poor research alert! Careless tweeting alert! Let us know after U finish researching if U could manage to find which city’s Police this is! Clue- NOT one of us! Disclaimer: Mumbai Police neither organised such event nor was part it @OpIndia_com”

Not only this, Mumbai Police also asked Ajaz Khan to recollect correctly who were you invited by and where, because we were not there. Mumbai Police tweeted that We appreciate your gratitude for the efforts of @MumbaiPolice for the wellbeing of the city, but misplaced gratitude barely serves any purpose. Kindly recollect correctly who were you invited by and where, because we were not there.
