Over 9,000 Turkish policemen suspended over links to Gulen

More than 9,000 Turkish policemen have been suspended over their alleged links with the Gulenist Group.

Earlier on Wednesday, over 1,000 suspected Gulenists were detained in police raids across Turkey, the Interior Ministry said.

The operations were carried out as part of a probe led by chief public prosecutor’s office in Ankara, Xinhua news agency reported.

The US-based Fethullah Gulen is accused by the Turkish government of masterminding the July 2016 coup attempt which left 249 people dead.
