Rajnath Singh meets 21 delegations in Kargil

The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh met 21 delegations including political parties, religious organizations and civil society groups covering over 150 persons at Kargil today. He heard their issues and accepted memoranda from them.

The Home Minister assured them that the Government will look into their demands on merit.

Earlier in the morning Rajnath Singh visited Drass and laid wreath at the Kargil War Memorial in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Yesterday, Singh met over 15 political parties, religious communities and civil society groups at Leh who presented a joint memorandum for grant of UT status with legislature to Leh- Ladakh region.

The Home Minster also reviewed the security situation in Leh with State Government officials who briefed him on the current Law and Order situation in the state, and on the position of supply of essential commodities, as well as the movement of trucks carrying fruits to various parts of the country.

Yesterday, he mentioned that he saw real ‘unity in diversity’ amongst the people of Ladakh. He said that the entire country is proud of the people of Ladakh as they are maintaining cordial relations amongst different communities within the region and for being true and staunch nationalists, standing shoulder to shoulder with the Army and Security Forces in defending the country from both external and internal threats.
