The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA, Neeraj Bora, on Tuesday said reports about him resigning from the post of MLA were false.
“It was a rumor that I am resigning from my Assembly constituency. There are no orders from the Chief Minister or party leaders for leaving the seat,” said Bora.
Since morning, the news of BJP MLA leaving seat for Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma went viral on social media. It was said that he will resign from the MLA post and will contest municipal elections for the post of Lucknow Mayor.
But within few hours, Dr Neeraj Bora tweeted from his official twitter handle rubbishing the news of resignation.
इस अफवाह में कोई दम नहीं है कि मैं अपनी विधान सभा सीट से इस्तीफा दे रहा हूँ। इस संदर्भ में पार्टी या मुख्यमंत्री जी का भी कोई आदेश नहीं है।

Notably, before becoming Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma was holding the post of Lucknow Mayor. As he was not an elected MLA or MLC, within six months from joining he should become MLA or MLC to retain the post of Deputy CM.
After his resignation the BJP has started searching for a potential mayoral candidate for Lucknow. In previous municipal election Dinesh Sharma won the seat for the second consecutive term defeating Neeraj Bora who contest against Sharma on Congress’s ticket by a margin of more than 1,71,824 votes. He was given second chance by the Congress party after he lost to Samajwadi Party leader Abhishek Mishra in Assembly elections 2012 from Lucknow North seat. Following which he left Congress in 2014 and joined BJP.
