India has got their first Rio Olympic medal which has come through Sakshi Malik. Sakshi successfully defeated her opponent Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kazakistan by 8-5.
In a thrilling contest, Sakshi fought back from 0-5 down to seal the bout 8-5 in her favour.
In the first round, Malik seemed to be on a defence mode, but as the clocked ticked towards the last minute, Malik overthrew her opponent claiming the Bronze Medal.
Sakshi won the bronze medal in the wrestling 58kg category. This is India’s first medal in this year’s Olympics. Sakshi before the last minute, was down with 5-0, but the pressure, took her to the next level and threw her opponent thrice winning 8 points in the last few seconds.
