Sanjay Nirupam questions the authenticity of Surgical Strikes

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, who is known for making controversial statements, is again in a controversy for his comments on a social media website over surgical strikes. Nirupam on Tuesday questioned the authenticity of the government’s claim of carrying out surgical strikes against terror launchpads across the line of control.

Nirupam tweeted “Every Indian wants #SurgicalStrikesAgainstPak but not a fake one to extract just political benefit by #BJP. Politics over national interest,”.

On one hand, where the entire Congress party is supporting surgical strike, Nirupam’s comment is just the opposite.

Soon after the comment, BJP reacted immediately. The BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra lashed out at Nirupam saying he was questioning the Indian Army’s credibility.

“Please don’t do this to your own country. Politicians don’t carry out strikes. You are questioning the martyrdom of our jawans. Are you questioning the DGMO? Because, he came out with all the details. No party has ever questioned the Indian Army. This is the first time ever any party has questioned the credibility of the Indian Army,” Patra told a TV news channel.

Last week, Indian Army had carried out surgical strikes on terror launchpads across the LoC in which around 37 terrorists were killed.
