Stare a woman, count 14 and you land in jail: Kerala Excise Commissioner misquote law

On Sunday, when Kerala Excise Commissioner Rishiraj Singh made a statement that if a man stares women for over 14 seconds can be booked. This made him land in controversy and a trending topic for twitteratis.

When the excise officer was addressing a public function at Kochi, he said Most of us don’t know that an FIR can be registered against a man who stares continuously at a woman for more than 14 seconds. But not even a single case has been registered on this.

He also asked girls to react if anyone try to harass them and they should pepper spray and small knife with them for safety.

The law stated by the excise commissioner was completely non-existent, it was not even criticized on the social media but also Kerala ministers took a jibe on the official.

State Sports Minister EP Jayarajan said the law quoted by the officer doesn’t exist at all. I have asked him to go through the laws properly.
