Social Activist Kavita Krishnan’s Facebook post went viral on Friday, after she posted news of a Kashmiri youth’s arrest in Bhilai on sedition charge.
She posted: “Taufeeq Ahamad, a Kashmiri who studied and now works at Bhilai, has been arrested for sedition for liking Facebook posts against India’s policy in Kashmir. I am told he is now in Durg jail on judicial remand.”
Raising question over his safety, she said who will vouch for his safety in jail? Kanhaiya when arrested for sedition was beaten while in custody. Isn’t Taufeeq far more vulnerable to custodial violence? Those who spoke up for Kanhaiya’s Azaadi must speak up for Taufeeq, for Internet and political freedom.
Within 12 hours of posting the news, social activist got mixed response from the users. Many of them supported her argument while many criticized her too.
