Woman jumped into the well with her three sons

BHUBANESWAR: Police recovered three minor siblings bodies from a well in in Gurujanga village in Angul district on Saturday. Though the mother who was rescued alive from the well by the villagers, had jumped into the well with her children, is now missing and police have launched a manhunt.

According to the police, the mother, Subhagini Behera (26), ran from the spot just moment after her son’s body were recovered from the well. Police have now started to search for her and know the reason behind her taking such drastic step.

Behera jumped into the well with her sons, Brundaban (4), Rohit (3) and eight-month-old Rohan to commit suicide. The incident was reported by a girl from the village, who alerted the other villagers. People informed the fire brigade and police about the incident and then started rescue operation to save the mother and the kids.

The mother was saved, but the officials failed to save her three sons.

Kavita Jalan SP of Angul informed that all the bodies have been sent for postmortem. “We have launched a manhunt to nab the woman, who hid in the jungle near the village. She is the one who can tell us the exact reason behind taking such step,” she added.

According to the police, woman’s husband is in jail on charges of selling and supplying narcotics items.
